Lake Austin, the sixth lake in the chain of Highland Lakes on the Colorado River in Central Austin, stretches 22 miles through the hilly, winding countryside just west of downtown Austin. Since the water level is fairly consistent, and the shores are spotted with tall bluffs and shallow swimming holes, Lake Austin is ideal for a recreational lifestyle. In addition to parks such as Emma Long and Walsh Boat Landing and outdoor restaurants such as Ski Shores and Chuy’s Hula Hut, both sides of the lake offer homes in various price ranges.
A few neighborhoods offer water access. West Rim has its own park with boat docks, Davenport Ranch has a private marina, Loop 360 Bridge provides a public boat launch and up and down the lake are private homes with their own boat docks. There are definitely opportunities in varied price ranges for water enthusiasts to live near or on Lake Austin.
